Karma Explained

What is Karma? Think of it as Reputation.

Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a member, it's a function where members can rate other members.
Members, if allowed, can 'applaud' or 'smite' other members, which is how their popularity is calculated.

Every member that is logged in can increase or decrease another member's reputation once in a while. But only users who have reached a certain post count can change it. There is a minimum post requirement because users that aren't active in the forum can use karma to abuse other members Reputation for no reason whatsoever.

Example On When To Use Negative Karma:
For instance if I think Jack is being mean or obnoxious towards a question i posted in the forum, I could award him some negative Karma.

Example On When To Use Positive Karma:
Someone replies to a post (question) you had, the member goes out of his way in helping you resolve, in return for his/her kindness & time, you reward them with some positive Karma.

Conclusion:
Karma is also a means of helping the administrators and moderators in tracking rude memebers.
When such mentioned check the karma log and notice that a member "smites" another member, it immediately raises a flag!
In return the most recent posts will be checked in hopes of determining why that certain member's reputation got lowered.

I haven't made up my mind yet as to keeping karma enabled. I think members shouldn't be rated like meat.
If anyone is found abusing the karma system for other than what it's generally intended to be, your privileges to use karma may be revoked.

This in return will help prevent everyone from quickly becoming bored and un-interested from using such.
I hope you better understand it's use, as a means of rewarding members for their help & courteous schism.

Thanks for your cooperation!
